"Who'd want to watch R.E.M anyway?" so bellows out Scott Hutchison to a packed out audience at Maggie Maes.

Certainly not those who've skipped the queues at Stubbs' to see one of the finest up-and-coming bands around just now.

To say Frightened Rabbit are "new" though, is a disservice to the Scots, because they set the marker down with 2006's epic 'Sing The Greys', an album that was picked up and given a re-release by Fat Cat Records late last year.

But tonight, they focus on their newer material from the upcoming 'Midnight Organ Fight', an album that looks a sure-fire contender for many an end-of-year list.

The LP includes a track called 'Heads Roll Off', a single that could quite easily catapult them into indie pop stardom. And tonight, it goes down a storm, alongside a set that impresses even the industry types.

Look out for Frightened Rabbit in 2008, they might just startle you.
