In a move that infuriates and annoys, Danger Mouse's new collaborative 'Dark Night Was The Soul' effort (featuring him, Sparklehorse, David Lynch and a huge range of other talented musicians) will no longer see the light of day because of an ongoing battle with Danger Mouse's label 'EMI'.

It was just two days ago that we posted THIS displaying it's awesome track-listing and the artists it was set to feature and now apparently, no physical release of the record will ever see the light of day.

The CD was supposed to come coupled with a book featuring photographs by David Lynch (the director) and whilst the book will still get a release, it will come with a blank-CD bearing the words: For legal reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.

We're gathering from that, that the record will probably be available in some form or another online but details are still unclear. In a short statement about the dispute with the label, Danger Mouse (real name Brian Burton) said he hoped that '"people lucky enough to hear the music, by whatever means, are as excited by it as he is".

We think its ridiculous that an entire album of this stature can be frivolously thrown away by a label like EMI just because of a disagreement. What do you think? Are you annoyed as we are? Let us know below.
