As part of the extended 50th anniversary celebrations of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, New York, Animal Collective will be putting on a one-off psychedelic showcase.

The show will take place on March 4, 2010 and will be called "Transverse Temporal Gyrus". The art project is a collaboration between the band and visual artist Danny Perez and will feature multi-media elements including video projections, costumes, and props. It will last around three hours too, with participants encouraged to wander the halls of the museum throughout.

Of the installation the band commented: "As New Yorkers we are all familiar with the everyday noise around us. We wanted to create an environment where people could take some time to listen to other kinds of sounds and get away from those familiar sounds of the city."
