A new Gorrilaz album is in the works and whilst it's not due for release until sometime next year, we're already beginning to hear some early news on its creation.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, bassist of freaky British garage-indie-rock outfit The Horrors, Rhys Webb (or Spider Webb as he likes to be called...) claimed that Albarn himself emailed the band, asking them to go down to his studio and help out on a track for the album.

He said:

"It was kind of a strange email saying, 'Would you guys be able to come down to my studio at some point?'. We had no idea really what it was about but thought that would be great to go down there, have a chat, it would be nice to meet him.

We went down to the studio and he said, 'We're working on the new album and we've not collaborated with a guitar band before and your album is one of the most exciting things I've heard in a long time. Would you be up for working on a track?'.

They have always been diverse and experimental and I think as a band moving forwards, that's very much they way we approach music."

Alongside that was also news that Albarn has produced one of the bands news tracks, a song titled Whole New Way which is confirmed to become a future single release.

Whilst Primary Colours was a definite progression on their earlier, more frustrating sound, it still wasn't 'one of the most exciting things we've heard in a long time" (though Mr Mercury Prize begs to differ). Maybe it's just us, what do you guys think? Let us know below.
